Melissa Doyel
Melissa has drawn, painted or hand crafted most of her life and loves exploring new ways to create. She moved to Sequim, WA with her husband and 2 cats in 2018 from Fiddletown, a small town in the Sierra foothills of California. Now in ‘creative retirement’, she loves exploring the beautiful Olympic Peninsula and finding new inspiration for her paintings.
Melissa paints in watercolor, acrylics, pastels and oils and enjoys painting a variety of subject matter, including portraiture. Her own reference material of special people, places and nature inspire her work. While not formally trained, she has been incredibly fortunate to find amazing teachers and artists to help her explore new ideas and techniques. She learns something new with every painting and likes to push herself to keep growing as an artist.
Melissa’s work has been accepted into several juried shows in California and Washington. She’s also received Best of Division, Best of Show and multiple 1st and 2nd place awards in the Amador County fairs.
Find more of her work on her website and at the Sutter Creek Gallery in Sutter Creek, CA.
